This camera is a 170" degree wide angle camera with metal housing. Will capture the whole of inside your car if used inside a car. What is AHD CCTV?

AHD (Analogue High Definition) CCTV is the new standard format or CCTV surveillance equipment which was first released in 2015 which typically uses coaxial cable with BNC connections. As you may know traditional analogue CCTV equipment worked on TV Lines (TVL) to determine the capture and output resolution up to a maximum resolution of WD1/960H (960x576 pixels). However AHD format allows much greater resolutions, up to full HD at 1920x1080 pixels or 2.4MP to 5MP (Mega Pixels). A 960p AHD camera is roughly equivalent to a 1200TVL analogue camera. The upper limits of AHD have yet to be fully revealed, but for now up to 1080p is a significant improvement over the original analogue format.

Is AHD compatible with analogue equipment?

Yes it is! The beauty of this advancement in surveillance technology is that AHD cameras are compatible with analogue DVRs and vice-versa but the DVR has to be AHD enabled. Also AHD still uses the same cables with Aviation & BNC connectors for video transmission; whether you have coaxial or a CAT5e cable set up currently, the new cameras will easily replace those older cameras without any issues.
